The fifth and last Regional Consultation of the project was held in The Netherlands from 19 to 21 March. It focused on the characteristics of groundwater governance in the UNECE region, and sought to promote discussion about the specific challenges and priorities within the regional context.
This consultation was an opportunity, as the previous four ones, to present, analyse and discuss regional, national and local case studies and experiences. General issues related to groundwater governance (definition of the concept, international instruments, data and information, etc) were also addressed.
This 5th consultation included a Roundtable on Private and Public Sector cooperation, as a contribution to the celebration of 2013 International Year of Water Cooperation. The consultation was organized back to back with the 22nd March official celebrations of World Water Day on Water Cooperation in The Hague.
The 3-day event was hosted by The Hague Institute for Global Justice and was attended by more than 80 participants representing 17 countries of the region, as well as many regional and international organizations.
